Former UAlbany defensive end Andre Coleman is continuing his professional football career up north.

On Tuesday, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL.

Coleman had a brief cup of coffee in the NFL.  He was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2007.  The 6-foot-3, 287-pound defensive end was on the Chargers’ practice squad for 3 years.

The Buffalo native played 2 games for the Chargers back in 2009.  He was activated for the Monday Night Game against the Oakland Raiders on September 14th - becoming the first UAlbany player to play in an NFL game.

A first-team All-Northeast Conference performer, Coleman had 42 tackles and led the Great Danes in hits for a loss (13.0) and sacks (6.0) as a senior in 2006. He was named to the Sports Network FCS Mid-Major All-America Team.
