‘Goose’ Lands On ‘The Drive’ Week Prior To SPAC Show
There are a ton of parallels between being a sports fan and a live music fan. A great concert set-list by a favorite artist can generate the same excitement amongst the crowd, as a last-second three-pointer or walk-off victory.
One of the hottest bands touring this summer stopped by 'The Drive with Charlie & Dan' on Friday, a week prior to their show at SPAC. In cool, sports-talk show style, three of the members of 'Goose', Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach and Trevor Weekz, broke down the band's successful formula and even hit on a little baseball.
Anspach talked about joining his friends in the already established Norwalk, Connecticut band. The keyboard, guitar and vocalist discussed the thrill of playing such iconic venues as SPAC, Radio City Music Hall and Red Rocks Amphitheater.
Founding members, lead guitarist and vocalist, Rick Mitarotonda and bassist Trevor Weeks revealed some of the band's influences, like Dave Matthews and the Grateful Dead, and where they see 'Goose' flying to next. Though the band's popularity is soaring, Rick, Peter and Trevor couldn't have been more grounded to talk with. After SPAC, the band's calendar fills with sold-out shows at Red Rocks in Colorado during October, before flying to Europe in November, to play sell-outs over there.
Five people on a phone-interview can be a bit confusing, but the members of 'Goose' could not have been more accommodating to Dan and me. Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach and Trevor Weekz were as kind and professional during the entire interview process, as the appear to be with their audiences.
As our listeners know, I have been to a few concerts over the last four-plus decades and listen to recorded-live music, regularly. A bands true talent is often revealed in front of appreciative audiances. 'Goose' is best rock band that has crossed my path in a long-time. Their vocals are outstanding and the music is tight. I look forward to my first 'Goose' show at SPAC on July 7th. Go to goosetheband.com for tickets and tour information. A big thanks to Ken Weinstein for connecting us. Listen Below to hear the entire interview. Best of luck to our new friends in 'Goose'.
