The Yankees finally named their fifth starter of their five man rotation, Jordan Montgomery the young Lefty got the call. Montgomery is a four pitch pitcher. He has a fastball that tops out around 96 MPH, a change up, slider and curve. The best part of all four of his pitches is they all come from the same arm motion and similar release point. This causes all kinds of confusion for the apposing batter. So put that all together with the fact he would be the Yankees second Left Handed starter behind CC Sabathia you can see why the Yankees hope he can maintain if not excel in that fifth starter spot.

It would be easy for me to cop out and say "Incomplete" for Montgomery's first game grade but I won't. I say this was a C maybe even C + performance. Jordan Montgomery threw a solid 4 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs only 2 earned including a Home Run, he walked 2 and struck out 7. For his first ever Big League performance I was really impressed.
