I can't believe that it is already Spring Training for Major League Baseball.  Pitchers and catchers arrived this week and of course there are already storylines for the New York Yankees.  Aaron Boone had a press conference on Wednesday afternoon and he had his usual answers and expectations for 2023.  But the big surprise came when he revealed that Frankie Montas would miss most of the regular season and possibly the entire season too with a shoulder surgery coming up on February 21st.  It is an injury that bothered him for most of the 2022 season.  Below is my quick take on this from the Times Union:
Not a good omen when the New Yankees lose starting pitcher Frankie Montas on the first day of Spring Training. Montas had shoulder problems last year, and now he needs surgery that will sideline him for best case scenario until the end of the regular season. He is a free agent after this season, and unfortunately his short stint with the Yankees never really worked out. The Yankees did very little to improve their starting rotation in the off-season. Yankee fans better hope Aaron Judge hits a lot home runs again this season, because it's feels like they are going to need him too.

MJ and I discussed this news earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports.  One thing is for sure, Montas has not really contributed at all to this Yankee team, which is very unfortunate.  Below is our full conversation on this.

The pressure is on this Yankee team to finally win a World Series and the expectations couldn't be higher in the Bronx in 2023.
