Maple Hill graduate Jaime Schultz is continuing to impress with the Montgomery Biscuits, the AA Southern League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Schultz is 4-3 on the season with a 3.33 ERA. Though he had his worst start of the season last night (3.1 IP, 6 ER), he has had a great year to this point.

He has allowed more than three runs in only two of 10 starts this season, and has featured a prime fastball (93-97 MPH) and good curveball en route to striking out 62 batters in just 48.2 innings.

Today, we brought in Biscuits broadcaster Aaron Vargas, who said that Schultz has some of the best stuff in the entire Southern League.

"There's no question, it's hands down...All you have to do is just watch hitters. Hitters will tell you what kind of stuff a pitcher has....Stuff is not going to be the issue with him at all...With that kind of stuff, if it's 0-2 or 1-2, it's game over."

Furthermore, he thinks that Schultz will eventually be a big-league pitcher, and could see him in a Tampa uniform as early as next season.

He even said that one scout compared to Schultz to flamethrowing Padres closer Craig Kimbrel.
