Local Athlete Update: Tommy Kahnle

After spending four years in the Yankees minor league system, it was big news locally when Shaker graduate Tommy Kahnle was selected in the Rule 5 Draft this year by the Colorado Rockies.

Kahnle had to make the team or be shipped back to the Yankees, and the hard-throwing righty has made the most of his new opportunity.

Kahnle has pitched in 47 games for the Rockies, logging 63 innings and a 2-1 record. He also has 56 strikeouts and has allowed opponents just a .195 average.
