Lord Stanley’s Drama Unlike Any Other in 2013
A series that was destined to go seven games didn't but it was ok, because the series already had multiple overtime games including a three-overtime thriller and a wild Game 6 that saw the Blackhawks tally two late third period goals in 17 seconds in Boston for the victory. A Stanley Cup hasn't ever been won in that fashion. And so, the Chicago Blackhawks are 2013 Stanley Cup champs.Chicago beat Boston 3-2 on goals by Bryan Bickell and Dave Bolland late in the third period as the Blackhawks captured the Stanley Cup. Really, Boston outplayed Chicago until the last 15 minutes or so in the game, when Chicago started to control the puck and turn up the speed on the wings and pepper Tuukka Rask.
Great news for Blackhawk fans. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane are locked up for two more years and Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp and Duncan Keith beyond that. This team is built to win for a long time and if guys get locked up even longer, Kane and Toews specifically, the Blackhawks, Cup champs this year and in 2010, could be around for a decade challenging for sports' ultimate prize.
What a series. Kudos to both teams. Hockey is some sport, especially this time of year.
