Injured New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist is nearing his return to the ice.  Lundqvist was struck in the throat by a puck off of the stick of Brad Malone of the Carolina Hurricanes back on January 31st.  Lundqvist has since been replaced by Rangers backup goalie Cam Talbot who has performed rather well over the course of the last month or so.

It seems as though the goal tender is eager to get back on the ice with his teammates.  It was reported earlier this week that Lundqvist may be a week or so from his return to the team.

"I feel physically in good shape," said Lundqvist, "I am waiting for the doctors."

Lundqvist has been staying in shape both on and off the ice since suffering the vascular injury and has recently been back in net facing shots.

"You can choose so many ways to approach this, and for me right now I am taking this as an opportunity to rest," Lundqvist said.

Since his time off the ice, his replacement for the time being, Cam Talbot, has been nothing short of what the Rangers could have hoped for after their net minder was injured.  Talbot has won nine of the fifteen games that Lundqvist has missed thus far and the team is 10-2-3 over that span with rookie Mackenzie Skapski picking up the other win.

"I'm super excited to come back playing," Lundqvist said, "but until then, I will focus on the things I can control."
