The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Sunday 105-95 in Miami. It's the first ever NBA title for the Mavs.

How did the Mavs win the title? What's next for LeBron and the Heat?

They always say "defense wins championships" and game 6 proved to live up to that saying. The Miami Heat could not solve the defensive schemes set by the Mavs in this game. They struggled most of the evening, especially against the zone put up by the Mavs.

Early on in this game, Dirk Nowitzki, the series MVP with 21 points and 11 rebounds in game 6, could not find his shot in the first half. So to the rescue for the Mavs was Jason Terry. He shot lights out going 11-16 from the field including 3-7 behind the 3-point arc. His 27 points really carried the Mavericks, especially in the first half when Nowitzki was struggling.

As it has been in the case this series, the fourth quarter was once again the big story line as the Heat just could not come through in crunch time. LeBron once again was a no-show , especially in the fourth quarter where it counted.  LeBron ended up with 21 points for the night, while Chris Bosh finished with 19, Mario Chalmers with 18 and Dwyane Wade with 17 points. In the end it was the defensive play and the whole team play of the Mavs that really locked up the win and the NBA title for the franchise.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the off-season for the Miami Heat as they look to retool and build with their core that they have established. They certainly will make noise next season. We'll see what happens to the core of the Mavericks in the off-season and see who comes back next season. But for now, they get to celebrate their championship as they are the 2011 NBA Champions.
