It seems that Joe Girardi had enough of seeing Eduardo Nunez making errors in the infield as he has been sent down to Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre.

The Bombers are very high on Nunez and the thought of him playing Shortstop or Second Base in the minors will help him with his defense. As far as offense goes Nunez has been playing very well batting .294 with a . 356 OBP and .373 Slugging percentage. He has 5 RBI's and 6 Stolen Bases on the year as well.

The move was also used to make roster space for Eric Chavez who  returns  from the DL tonight (5/11) after missing a week with whiplash and possible concussion.  The injury occured when Chavez dove for a ball in a game against Baltimore on May 2nd.   He will be the DH against the Mariners.   He was eligible to come off the DL on Thursday but had to wait for MLB clearance to be activated.
