The Liberty League has named RPI student-athlete Mike Hermann the Offensive Performer of the Week after lifting the Engineers to a 28-24 come-from-behind victory over Rochester last weekend.

A junior quarterback out of Hardeeville, S.C., Hermann helped the Engineers close an 11-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter with a 59-yard touchdown around multiple defenders just 20 seconds into the quarter. He then ran into the end zone for a two-point conversion to make it a 24-21 ball game.

After a three-and-out by Rochester, Hermann struck again with a 41-yard touchdown pass to give RPI a 28-24 lead with 3:22 left in the game. He finished by completing 15 of 31 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, Hermann rushed for a game-high 110 yards and two scores and also made a solo tackle in the win.

This is the second weekly honor of the season for Hermann, who was also named the ECAC Division III North Offensive Performer of the Week following a 51-21 victory over Castleton State on September 17.

Through the first four games, Hermann has completed 69 of 122 passes for 812 yards and seven touchdowns. He is averaging 203.0 yards per game in the air and has been intercepted just three times. Additionally, Hermann is the team’s leading rusher with 61 carries for 369 yards and seven scores while averaging 92.2 yards per game.

Among the Liberty League’s best, Hermann ranks first overall in total offense (1,181 yards), second in scoring (44 points), third in passing average, fourth in rushing, fifth in pass efficiency (56.6%) and sixth in all-purpose yardage (369).

RPI (2-2; 1-1 Liberty League) continues its three-game homestand on Saturday when it hosts Utica at East Campus Stadium. Game time is set for 1pm.
