According to ESPN.com the New York Yankees, quiet during the winter meetings so far, are in hot pursuit of a former nemesis, that being former Boston Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis.

According to the story the Yanks have offered Youkilis a one year deal for 12 million dollars. Last year Youkilis ran into problems with now former Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine and was dealt to the White Sox.

Youkilis hit only .235 for Boston and Chicago last season. The sources claim the Cleveland Indians, now managed by former Sox skipper Terry Francona are also after Youkilis. The Indians are also in talks with the Diamondbacks for outfielder Justin Upton. Youkilis also had 19 homers and drove in 60 runs for both teams.

The Yanks lost regular third baseman Alex Rodriguez to a hip injury. He will undergo surgery someday, I guess whenever he feels like it. Another now former third baseman for the Yankees left Tuesday when Eric Chavez signed with Arizona.
