And just like that, the high school season is over for Section II. We've come a long way since the frigid November football games, and the basketball games in the middle of the long winter.

This weekend, Section II crowned three more state champions in baseball and softball, rounding out a great year for Section II athletics.

In baseball, Hoosic Valley captured the Class C title for the second consecutive year by beating Geneseo, 5-2. That came on the heels of a 2-0 shutout win in the semifinals.

On the softball fields, Averill Park took the Class A title by winning 9-7 over Clarke, and Ichabod Crane won the Class B title.

Section II also had several teams come up just short of the state championship.

Saratoga (AA) and Queensbury (A) baseball fell in the state title games while in softball, Hoosic Valley (C) and Fort Ann (D) both fell in the state final four.

Congratulations to all the Section II teams on a great athletic year. See you in 2015-16.
