The New York Mets are a red hot baseball team right now.  They are coming off of a great weekend sweep of the San Diego Padres.  Both Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor were tremendous and now suddenly the Mets are just four games below .500 and barely out of a National League wild card.  I know most analysts and fans want him gone and traded but I respectfully disagree.  The Mets to keep their superstar player and make him the face of the franchise and give a nice big contract extension.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:

Pete Alonso is the face of the New York Mets and he's the one player who can turn around his team and point them in the right direction. The Polar Bear had five RBI's and the Mets completed a three- game sweep of the San Diego Padres for their fifth straight win. The Mets are starting to resemble a playoff team which means they might be buyers and not traders at the July trading deadline. Alonso is the best player on the team and if he starts to heat up the Mets become a legitimate contender for the playoffs. The Mets need to lock up Alonso with a new contract that will keep him in New York for the rest of his career.

I love how the Mets fanbase have totally written off this team it is still way too early and you have to have faith in the front office such as owner Steve Cohen and David Stearns.  The Mets will be just fine.
