Mitch Buonaguro was supposed to help bring the Siena Saints back to the NCAA Tournament and reach the heights it hit under former head coach Fran McCaffery. Those dreams are officially dead, as he has been fired from his position as the Saints head coach.

Buonaguro went 35-59 during his three seasons leading Siena. Prior to that he served as an assistant to McCaffery, in the golden age of Siena basketball. This season was by far his worst, as the team mustered an 8-24 record, including a 4-14 conference mark, only good for ninth place in the MAAC.

Next season will be very interesting in Loudonville, as the Saints not only will be in their first year with a new head coach, but will also be without the services of rebounder extraordinaire O.D. Anosike, who played his last game as a Saint in Siena's quarterfinal loss to Niagara in the MAAC tournament.
