An historic season for the Siena men's lacrosse team ends with a national ranking.

The Saints were ranked 20th in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and finished the season nationally ranked in both the Nike/Inside Lacrosse and USILA Coaches’ Polls for the first time in program history.

Siena is nationally ranked in the Media Poll for the first time ever. Prior to March 28th, the program had only received votes three times in school history.

The ranking comes on the heels of the program’s first-ever national ranking in the final USILA Coaches’ Poll released on May 9th. The Saints were also ranked 20th in that poll.

National Champion Virginia topped the final Nike/Inside Lacrosse Poll with Final Four participants Maryland, Duke and Denver rounding out the top-4. Syracuse, which defeated the Saints in the NCAA Tournament, was ranked fifth.

The Saints concluded a memorable 2011 season with a program record 13 victories and won their second MAAC Tournament Championship and made their second NCAA Tournament Appearance in the past three seasons.
