Forbes has released their list of "The World's Highest Paid Athletes" and you might be shocked who's the highest paid New York Athlete. The list is dominated by soccer and NBA stars but there are certainly plenty of MLB and NFL stars on the list. I was a little surprised how low the New York athletes were on the list and more shocked when I saw the man they listed highest.
The New York Mets seem to have more issues than any other professional sports franchise. Last weekend they got their best bat Yoenis Cespedes back and one of their top pitchers Noah Syndergaard made his second start returning from the Disabled List. Well stop me if you've heard this one before, both of these stars could be headed back to the DL.
It seemed bleak. It seemed unlikely. And it seemed hopeless. But in the end, the New York Mets got it done.
On Friday, news broke that the Mets had reached an agreement with Yoenis Cespedes to bring him back to New York.
The deal is for three years and $75 million...
The Mets have been trying to figure out a way to get Yoenis Cespedes back in free agency. Cespedes helped ignite the Mets offense down the stretch last year and helped the Mets advance all the way to the World Series.
He's been reportedly looking for a huge multi-year deal that would bring him as many years as possible...
