In what has been a pretty amazing offensive season for the University of Albany Great Danes football team, there's a chance a major award could be won by QB Jeff Undercuffler. Undercuffler is on the watch list for the STATS Jerry Rice Award, which is given annually to the top freshman in all of FCS.

First off after debuting last year for the Great Danes and how good Undercuffler has been under center I almost forgot he's a Red Shirt Freshman. So far this year, Undercuffler has thrown for 28 touchdowns and over 2,400 yards.

Per a press release from UAlbany:

The award will be voted upon after the season by a panel of more than 150 sports information directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries.

Three of the first four recipients of the Jerry Rice Award went on play in the NFL: former Towson running back Terrance West, Eastern Washington wide receiver Cooper Kupp and Fordham running back Chase Edmonds.
