Three UAlbany Great Dane football players have received preseason honors. Running Back Karl Mofor was named to the Hero Sports preseason FCS All-American team. Fellow Great Danes Quarterback Jeff Undercuffler and Linebacker Levi Metheny made the second team.

First reported by Times Union's Pete Dougherty Senior RB Mofor received the first-team preseason nod after being on the Hero Sports second team last season. The bruising back's 10 touchdowns and over 1200 yards were a huge part of the Great Danes' playoff run last season. Jeff Undercuffler in the same backfield as Mofor was fun to watch the last season. Undercuffler gave UAlbany an aerial assault better than any I've witnessed in the program's history and as a redshirt Sophmore, there are high hopes he'll be even better this season. With Undercuffler's ability to throw downfield and Mofor on the ground, it's hard to not get excited about the potential the Great Danes' offense will have in 2020.

Levi Metheny is a tackling machine. Metheny and Eli Mencer (now an Undrafted Free Agent with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL) were part of a defense that pressured quarterbacks and punished runningbacks in the CAA last season. Metheny will be tasked with helping keep that defense improving.

If this year is anything like last season there will be plenty of rewards coming the Great Danes' way. I can hear head coach Greg Gattuso telling me to not get ahead of myself but it's hard to not get excited about the 2020 season... if the coronavirus lets us have a 2020 season(there I said it for you negative Nancy's)
