The University of Albany Men's Basketball has agreed to play in an eight team tournament in Northern Ireland this coming season. From November 29 to December 1st the Great Danes will head to Ireland to compete in the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic.

The UAlbany Great Danes join Buffalo, Dartmouth, LIU Brooklyn, Marist, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, San Francisco and Stephen F. Austin in Northern Ireland. In a year where Coach Will Brown will need to adjust to no Joe Cremo or David Nichols this trip may be exactly what the program needs. This is the kind of trip that excites and inspires the player and gives the University exposure future recruits love.

In an interview with the Times Union Will Brown said:

“This event presented itself and it’s an opportunity to take your team overseas, on an international trip during the season, and to a place that most likely everyone in your program hasn’t been,” Brown said Tuesday, not long after the tournament's field was announced. “It’s an opportunity, maybe, none of our student-athletes will have again, either.”

This is great news for the area and my only question is...do they need me to come along?
