As the University of Albany Men's Basketball team prepares to face NJIT in the first round of the America East tournament head coach Will Brown sounds prepared and calm. When we spoke to Brown before this season began it was clear that he was excited to get his team on the court for a few reasons. Obviously, with the COVID-19 pandemic Coach was just happy to play ball but he also gets to coach his son Jackson Brown this year. When you've coached as long as Brown has there aren't a lot of "firsts" left out there so coaching his son for the first time clearly was fun for him.

I jokingly asked is it hard to coach number 33, Jackson Brown? I've heard it's tough to coach a coach's son?" There was a quick pause and coach Brown made a joke about Jackson being tough and it was his mom's fault. Then it was clear that he was enjoying coaching his son. When a guy that's achieved all the things Will Brown has reaches out to another coach for pointers, I feel like that's a big deal. Listen to Will Brown on how he's preparing the Great Danes for NJIT and why he reached out to Iowa Coach Fran McCaffrey for advice below.

It may just be me but there's a clear joy and calmness in Will Brown's voice. I've always enjoyed speaking to Will but now I feel like he's not only confident and prepared but also content.
