While we usually think of the UAlbany-Siena rivalry on the hardwood, it's always special when the two schools get together on the field of competition.

Such was the case on Tuesday afternoon when UAlbany and Siena met on the lacrosse field. Both programs are successful, but UAlbany has the clear edge after topping the Saints by a score of 23-7.

"I was very pleased to how we responded after a huge win on Saturday against Yale, coming out three days later against a tough Siena team,” said UAlbany coach Scott Marr told UAlbanySports.com. “We started off great with an outstanding first quarter; we gobbled up every ground ball, Blaze [Riorden] had some key saves, and offensively, we did a great job of moving the ball and finding the open man.”

NCAA all-time leading scorer Lyle Thompson had three points in the win. Seth Oakes had four goals for the Danes.

UAlbany held a 10-1 advantage after one quarter to set themselves up for the win.

The Danes will play UMBC in the America East finale on Saturday at 3 p.m. (Bob Ford Field). Siena will play Marist in Poughkeepsie on Saturday night.
