UAlbany Quartet Honored in League Awards

The UAlbany men's basketball team has had a good season thusfar, winning 24 games and earning the second seed in the upcoming America East Conference Tournament.

The Danes will open tournament play on Wednesday night against Hartford at SEFCU Arena. Tip-off time is 7:00.

But before the tournament, the Danes had multiple players take home honors in the end-of-season awards.

Senior guards Evan Singletary and Ray Sanders were both named to the first-team. The two JUCO transfers had solid second seasons in Purple as Singletary led the team in scoring at 13.0 ppg. He also dished out a team-best 2.9 assists and shot 35 percent from three-point range.

Sanders scored 12.0 points per game and shot 39.0 percent from three while also being a catalyst on defense.

Senior Peter Hooley had an up-and-down season, shooting just 24 percent from three-point range on the season, but he averaged 12.6 points per game. He was named to the third-team.

Freshman Joe Cremo earned Sixth Man of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the league after contributing 10.5 points per game.
