Congratulations to the UAlbany women's basketball team, which pulled off the 12-5 upset yesterday in beating Florida at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

The Danes topped the Gators, 61-59, in the NCAA Tournament's first round. It was the first win for the Danes in NCAA Tournament history at the D-1 level.

UAlbany trailed by 15 points at half and saw star Shereesha Richards foul out early in the fourth quarter and all hope appeared to be lost.

But the Danes ended the game on a 15-2 run thanks to stifling defense (they forced Florida into 25 turnovers) and just general toughness.

UAlbany will play Syracuse on Sunday at noon in front of the Orange's home crowd:

UAlbany got 28 points and eight rebounds from star guard Imani Tate. She is the second-leading scorer in the America East this season. Furthermore, Erin Coughlin and Tiana-Jo Carter played valuable minutes and scored big buckets down the stretch.

Good luck to Coach Abe and staff tomorrow afternoon.
