UAlbany’s CAA 2021 Schedule Released

The Colonial Athletic Association, the conference of the UAlbany Great Danes football program, announced the format for spring football for 2021.The conference will play a six game schedule with member schools having the option to playing two additional non conference games. Two divisions will be set in the conference with teams playing one another in that respective division. The FCS playoffs are scheduled to begin on Saturday April 24th. The first opponent and kickoff date for UAlbany is still to be determined.

In regards to the conference's COVID protocoal CAA commissioner Joe D'Antonio said the following

 Each member institution, as well as the conference office, has additional protocols that must be finalized and approved in order to ensure a safe return to the field. Our goal in creating this unique scheduling format was to implement a competitive model while also trying to reduce the risks associated with travel as much as we could.

The Great Danes are coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history. UAlbany finished with a 9-5 overall record but achieved both an NCAA playoff spot, and a home playoff victory. The 2020 preseason polls have this year's UAlbany team ranked in the national top 25 poll

As of Thursday September 30th afternoon, the Great Danes athletic activities are still on pause.
