Why Does It Seem There Isn’t Any Buzz With This Subway Series?
Both the New York Mets and New York Yankees are bad baseball teams and very hard to watch. This week is the second installment of the Subway Series. The first two games were split at Citi Field in early June and now these two are at Yankee Stadium. The Mets blew out the Yankees 9-3 on Tuesday night. It really brings to light the glaring issues that this team has. The offense is totally flat and the starting pitching outside of Clarke Schmidt and Gerrit Cole has been very inconsistent. They need to be active and buy at the trading deadline. My partner and homer Yankee fan MJ thinks they need to add a lefty bat and wants them to pursue Cody Bellinger. We'll see what the Bronx Bombers do before the August 1st 6 p.m. trade deadline.
MJ Vinny and I had on Bryan Hoch earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports. He covers the New York Yankees for MLB.com and has a new book out called 62 about Aaron Judge. Below is our full interview with him.
We also had on James Schiano earlier this morning who covers the Mets with the Mets'd Up Podcast. Below is our full interview with him.
The bottom line is both of these teams won't make the playoffs, or if they do they won't go far at all. They need to be active at the trade deadline whether buying or selling. It is disappointing that there isn't as much buzz for the Subway Series as both New York teams are struggling and just aren't very good. Hopefully that changes really soon.
