Will The New York Giants Pay Saquon Barkley A New Deal Or Not?
Monday is deadline day for the New York Giants and Saquon Barkley. Both sides have been at an impasse for a while now because they can't seem to agree on the best number per year. Saquon wants in the neighborhood of $16 million which is what Christian McCaffrey is getting. Although Saquon is deserving of the money, that is still a lot for a guy who has been injured quite a bit throughout his career. He is coming off of his best season yet and is the best player on the field for the Giants when healthy. He rejected around $13 million per year which was a decently fair offer but both sides are clearly apart. The running back market is changing and guys like Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliot still don't have a team. You wonder what Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will do. It is very risky to pay a running back a lot of money on a long term deal.
MJ and I had on our guy Bobby Skinner from Talkin Giants earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports. He is always awesome and willing to come on and thinks a deal will get done before the Monday 4 p.m. deadline because in his eyes the Giants really have no choice. Below is our full interview with him.
I think it will be a big mistake for the Giants not to sign Saquon and leave him on the $10.1 million franchise tag. You want a happy and productive Barkley and not a frustrated or disgruntled Barkley. We will see how this all unfolds here very soon.
