For the fourth consecutive year, Chad Brown is the top trainer in the nation.

The Mechanicville native was crowned at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida on Thursday night and at 41 years old, Brown has no signs of slowing down. Brown started 823 horses last year and won 222 times. He also finished second 161 times and third 131 times. Brown won 54 graded stakes races last year, 20 of them Grade I races. His horses won a $20,595,470.

For the first time in his career, Brown also took home Horse of the year with Bricks and Mortar. Bricks and Mortar won all 6 of his starts in 2019, 5 of them being Grade I races including the Arlington Million and the Breeders Cup Turf. Bricks and Mortar gained 204 first-place votes while second place Matole finished with 19.

Chad Brown's next test will be the Pegasus World Cup Turf this weekend at Gulfstream Park.
