ESPN Lacrosse Analyst Paul Carcaterra Joins Big Board Sports
As the UAlbany men's lacrosse program gets set to host its first home game in the NCAA Tournament since 2007, ESPN college lacrosse analyst & 1995 National Champion at Syracuse Paul Carcaterra helps us preview the matchup with North Carolina.
The Danes have but two blemishes on their record this season, each of them 1 goal losses to the top two ranked teams in the country, Maryland and Syracuse. If UAlbany can win Saturday night against North Carolina, it will in all likelihood get a rematch with the Terrapins.
That brings us to two big points. First, while the home game is nice, the selection committee didn't do UAlbany any favors. #3 in the RPI and #4 in the polls, the Danes are the 8th overall seed in the NCAA Tournament with a first round matchup against the defending national champs and a team that just ran through the ACC tournament. Second, a victory Saturday night would send UAlbany to Newark, Delaware to, as I mentioned, would likely mean a matchup with the top overall seed and last year's national runner-up Maryland.
