Reports indicate that the Giants have interest in signing recently released 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith. Has ESPN’s Adam Schefter heard the same?

“I think there’s a lot of talk about a lot of teams right now,” said Schefter, with Armen and Levack on 104.5 The Team.

Last Friday morning, Smith was charged with his third DUI charge, along with hit and run and vandalism accusations.

“The fact of the matter is that he has to get his life straightened up right now. That’s not to say that he couldn’t end up in New York with the Giants but I think right now that’s more speculation than anything else.”

While NJ.com has disputed that the Giants have interest, the connecting of the dots is there.

“It would make a lot of sense. I’m sure the Giants could get him cheap and then they could have some flexibility in what they want to decide to do with JPP. I’m sure there would be some relation there if one domino were to fall. To date, I’ve heard of that as being more than speculative right now.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter joins Armen and Levack every Monday at 4:45pm ET on 104.5 The Team, sponsored by Death Wish Coffee - Home of the World’s Strongest Coffee.
