Goz’s College Football Top 25 Poll (Week 11)
For the second consecutive season, I’ll be providing my own personal Top 25 poll each week during the college football season. My poll philosophy all season long has been ranking the teams I believe are the best twenty-five best in the country following that given week’s games. Oklahoma deserves to be higher now and they are.- I was a doubter of the Sooners in my last poll and I felt rightfully so. At that time, Oklahoma had seven wins but three of them had come within single digits and the one loss had been to a then unproven Iowa State team. Quarterback Baker Mayfield's incredible performance has helped propel the Sooners into the Top 7.
Why are Notre Dame and Miami higher?- Well both teams impressed this weekend against ACC opponents. Don't overlook the Fighting Irish's win over Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons could be a bowl team this year and they handled them. Miami's win over Virginia Tech was the best they looked all year. The Hurricanes and Fighting Irish game this weekend is likely to be one of the best of the 2017 season.
Will the Conference weekend matter?- Think of this potential scenario on the first week of December. Undefeated Alabama vs Undefeated Georgia in the SEC Title game. One loss Miami vs one loss Clemson. Undefeated Wisconsin in the Big Ten title. Are those games basically a quarterfinal round of the playoff? A lot is still to be determined this year.
