Hoffman Signs with Blue Jays

Jeff Hoffman, Shaker High School graduate and No. 9 pick in the MLB draft, has signed with the Toronto Blue Jays for $2.97 million.

The signing bonus is for full slot value, because Blue Jays management felt they already received a discount by getting at Hoffman at No. 9. He had been projected as a top-five pick before getting Tommy John surgery in May.

Hoffman will head to Florida to continue rehab.
