I have known former Syracuse men's basketball head coach Jim Boeheim for many years and we have a great relationship.  I still wish he was the head coach but he had an incredible run at Syracuse for several decades.  Former Syracuse standout and New York Knick legend Carmelo Anthony announced his retirement earlier this week.  Melo won a national championship his freshman season at Cuse and had so many good seasons at Madison Square Garden with the Knicks.  He always gives back to the community and still maintains a close relationship with Jim Boeheim.

MJ and I had on Coach Boeheim earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports.  Coach discussed the memories with Melo and also about his legendary run at Syracuse.  He also brought up his many trips to Albany to Wolferts Roost Country Club with former UAlbany head coach Doc Sauers.  He touched on Joseph Girard III's career as well with Syracuse.  Below is our full interview with him.

Coach Boeheim also brought up how the transfer portal has totally changed the landscape of collegiate athletics.  He is glad he is out now and told us how it is very difficult to balance and keep your players at your program.  It really is the smaller schools that hurt more from the portal like a Siena or UAlbany.  It was great catching up with Coach Boeheim as he is always gracious and comes on whenever we ask him too.  Best of luck to him and Carmelo Anthony in retirement.
