New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi interrupted his press conference on Wednesday night to yell at a heckling fan.

The Yankees lost to the White Sox 2-1 on Wednesday night.  The win on Wednesday by the White Sox capped off a three-game sweep of the Yankees.  Following the game, Joe Girardi stopped his press conference to yell at a fan who was giving him the business.  The fan started to shout, “Yankees swept.  Yes.  Hey, Girardi, you bum.”  Joe Girardi had heard enough and responded by saying, "Hey, shut up.  I'm doing an interview."

The Yankees lead in the AL East over the Tampa Bay Rays is down to only three games.  Girardi's actions show that the Yankees are starting to feel the heat as their divisional lead continues to shrink.  I highly doubt Girardi would've approached this situation the same way if the Yankees had a 12-game lead in the division.  I'm not suggesting that the Yankees are crumbling or that Girardi was out of line.  His actions last night were not a big deal.  However, it does show that the Yankees are starting to feel the pressure as September nears.

The Yankees are off today.  They begin a three-game series against the Cleveland Indians tomorrow.  CC Sabathia is scheduled to make his return from the DL to face an Indians squad that has lost eight games straight.  The Indians might be exactly what the doctor ordered for the Yankees to get back on track.  Listen to the Yankees tomorrow night at 7:05pm on 104.5 The Team, ESPN Radio.  The Coors Light Yankee pregame show with Bruce Jacobs begins at 6:15pm.
