He won the Class C state title and became the Section II all-time leading scorer this year, and on Thursday, Lake George senior basketball standout Joel Wincowski was named the New York State Class C Player of the Year.

It's the second time that Wincowski has won the award. He previously won it as a sophomore. Last year, Hoosic Valley's Jon Rooney took home the honor, so this is three straight years that Section II has produced the state's top player.

Wincowski averaged 33 points a game in this season as the Warriors compiled a 26-1 overall record.

The University of Maryland-Baltimore commit hit the game-winning three-pointer with one second left in the Class C state title game.

His 2,615 career points are fifth all-time in New York State. He broke Jimmer Fredette's all-time Section II scoring record earlier this year.

The Class A and AA Players of the Year will be announced next week.
