MLB Needs to Do More to Discourage ‘Base-Brawls’
When is Major League Baseball going to realize that brawls like the one on Sunday in San Francisco is a very bad image for the game. The fines and suspension need to be much higher if MLB wants to get it under control. There is no place in the game for a pitcher throwing an 98 mph fastball at a batter like San Francisco relief pitcher Hunter Strickland did to Washington’s Bryce Harper, when the sole purpose is to retaliate and cause an injury. Nevermind the fact that Strickland's "retaliation" comes about two and a half years after Harper hit two home runs against him in the 2014 NLDS. A series, by the way, the Giants ended up winning on their way to a World Series title.
