National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame Almost Moved To KY

The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame was almost moved to Lexington or Louisville, Kentucky according to the Times Union article. Apparently, some people felt like the museum in Saratoga Springs hadn't been kept up to date and was feeling a little long in the tooth. Maybe it was time to put it out to pasture and move.

John Hendrickson, President of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame had heard the rumblings that people were unhappy with the current museum and something needed to change.

The museum has been right on Union Avenue since 1955. Now, after an eight-month renovation and upgrade the museum is ready for visitors again with lots of new features and gadgets

One of the biggest changes is the new film "What It Takes: Journey to the Hall of Fame" that plays in a special room, on a 360-degree screen. It takes you right to the center of the action from iconic race tracks all over the country. After the film is done there are nine interactive stations where visitors can find out about any of the 459 Hall of Fame inductees.

The Nationa Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame was scheduled to reopen in September after the $13 million upgrades, unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic has delayed the reopening. The good news is that it's open now and it was worth the wait.
