New York Yankees Headline Wild Weekend

All of the Major League Playoff spots have been claimed except two and they both involve the same 4 teams. The American League Wild Card race will go down to the wire this weekend and maybe beyond. There are strong possibilities that there could be a three-way or even four-way tie amongst the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays. That is crazy! All eyes will be on the Bronx Friday night, as the Bombers take on the American League regular season champion, Tampa Bay Rays in game one of the final three games of the 2021 regular season.

If the Yankees win one game, they will clinch a playoff birth. If the Pinstripes can sweep the defending AL champs this weekend, they will guarantee that the Yankee will be hosting the Wild Card game, most likely on Tuesday unless there is a tie between any of those other teams. If the Yankees lose all three games, they can still back into a Wild Card spot but they will need help.

Nester Cortes Jr and Jordan Montgomery will take the hill for the Bombers on Friday and Saturday. Two guys who have been very important in carrying this pitching staff through all of the injuries and COVID related games missed.

ESPN TV baseball analyst, Buster Olney was on The Drive with Charlie and Dan on Friday. He talked about the Yankees pitching staff and their chances in the playoffs, as well as he broke down the Cardinals, Giants and even gave us a little Mets information.
