The Major League baseball season has now passed the Memorial Day mark and the New York Yankees hold a two game lead on the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East standings. Despite the injuries to All-Stars Luis Severino, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and more, the Bronx Bombers have been able to continue to find ways to win. The Yankees have their next two games against the San Diego Padres then they begin a series with the Boston Red Sox for a four games set after that. The defending World Series champion Red Sox trail the Yankees by six and half games in the standings.

The way in which the Yankees have won and the lack of competition in the American League this season, I believe the Yankees will hold the lead in the American League East until late June. The Yankees get back to back series with the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros and with the injury dates still be uncertain, that seems to be the most likely time a team could catch them.

How long do you believe the New York Yankees will stay in first place in the AL East? Let us know your thoughts below.
