The Yankees structured their 2015 roster to be defensively sound and to be capable to win in low-scoring games. Instead, the Pinstripes have lately been performing in an opposite manner.

With sloppy defensive play from both the fielders and overall pitching, the Yankees are 3rd in the Majors with 58 home runs and are using their bats to blast their way to victories.

Is it time to change philosophies with this Yankees roster?

"I don’t think so," said former Yankee Jim Leyritz, with Armen and Levack. "Not with Joe Girardi.

"[Girardi] is going to maintain that defense is still the key and that the home runs are eventually going to even out. There is going to be a point where they are going to have to win games with their pitching and their defense.

"You still have to manufacture runs and that is something that Joe Girardi is still a little frustrated with. This team has won three in a row and they haven’t been producing runs via anything other than the HR."

Former Yankee Jim Leyritz joins Armen and Levack every Wednesday at 5:15pm ET on your home for Yankees baseball, 104.5 The Team.
