Yankee Stadium, tough crowd. While on the verge of being swept by the Blue Jays, a Yankee fan hit outfielder Brett Gardner in the head with a baseball during Sunday's loss.

In the fourth inning, the Blue Jays took a 2-0 lead on Jose Bautista's 26th home run of the season. A fan threw the ball back on the field and appeared to hit Gardner in the upper back.

It was just one of those days for the Yankees, who ended up losing to Toronto by the same score and finished the series only up by 2.5 games, when they entered on Friday with a 5.5 game lead.

It's the offense that overall plagued the Yankees this weekend as the pinstripes have yet to score a run in their last 26 innings.

Gardner went back on the field the next inning and appeared to be in fine health.

With a three-game series with Cleveland this week, the Yankees will get an opportunity for revenge against the Blue Jays towards the end of this week with a weekend series in Toronto.
