When you have the best player to ever play your sport on your team, you better have a standout game to be named "player of the week." That's exactly what happened for UAlbany lacrosse goalie Blaze Riorden.Sure, the 20 saves were over-the-top outstanding but the goal heard around the world actually came from the goalie.

With time ticking down in the 3rd period, Riorden relied on his own feet, split the defenders on the other end and rippled the twine. It was enough to get No. 4 on the SportsCenter Top 10.

"I saw a lot of open space," said Riorden, with Armen and Levack on 104.5 The Team. "It seemed like everyone on the field was tired and I was fresh. I ran as fast as I could because I didn't want to get slashed. I did a spin move ... and shot it as hard as I could."

Riorden has been named Player of the Week by the Epoch/Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week and that's while also having 2014 Tewaaraton winner Lyle Thompson on the field.

"He can do things in lacrosse that I've never seen done by anyone else. Just his athletic ability, he makes it look so easily. It comes natural to him. He has it all."

UAlbany will play No. 1 Notre Dame in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday at 3 p.m. Make sure to go watch the game with Armen and Levack and 104.5 Team.
