Can UAlbany Football Bounce Back And Finish 2022 Strong?
The UAlbany football team suffered another brutal defeat on Saturday when they fell on the road at Villanova 31-29. The Wildcats kicked a game winning field goal as time expired which keeps the Great Danes winless in the CAA conference. UAlbany had gotten an onside kick, which are virtually impossible to recover, and just had scored a touchdown with under a minute remaining. The ensuing kickoff went short and a big pass play and a few costly defensive penalties later, Villanova kicked the game winning field goal. I hope UA can turn it around and soon as they fell to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the CAA conference. I continue to discuss this in my quick take from The Times Union:
Saturday was an absolutely devastating loss for the UAlbany Football team. They were down two scores with under 5 minutes to play with no timeouts and still managed to take the lead with under a minute to play. Unfortunately, there was enough time left on the clock for Villanova to march down the field and kick a game winning field goal as time expired. The losses are incredibly hard to take for the players and coaches, and it’s not for lack of competing at a high level. UAlbany has a good football team, even though their record might not show it.
MJ and I had the call on Saturday afternoon on our sister station 103.9 The Breeze. Below is our final wrap up from the Saturday broadcast.
I wish my good friend Coach Greg Gattuso and this football team the best of luck the rest of the season. They are a much better football team than their record indicates and next up for the Great Danes is Stony Brook this Saturday at home at 1 p.m.
