Now that we can all legally bet on sports in New York state, here are some longshots to consider. My personality plays more to the futures bet than the day-to-day game spreads or over/unders and so here are a few to consider when it comes to the Giants and Jets. (the following odds are according to betonline.ag)
After winning Rookie of the Year in 2018, Saquon Barkley's odds at being named the NFL's MVP are 50-1. It goes without saying the Giants would have to put together something of a stunning season in order for that bet to hit. If the Giants were to reach the playoffs and even win the NFC East, Eli Manning could be in the running for MVP at 100-1 preseason odds.
What if the G-Men go in the tank early and Daniel Jones leads them to a more-than-respectable season? Then, you could win big with a bet on the sixth overall pick to win the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Jones is 33-1.
If you listen to Big Board Sports or watch Onorato & Bagnardi on the 104.5 The Team Facebook page, you know I'm picking the Jets to win the AFC East. Sound crazy? I'm not going all-out though. I don't like either of the next two futures best for the 2019 season: Sam Darnold is 100-1 win MVP and rookie defensive tackle Quinnen Williams is 17-2 to win the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year.
