The Boston Celtics are in deep trouble as they lost Game 5 at home to the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night.  They now trail their bitter division rival 3-2 in the series and have not looked impressive at all during these 2023 NBA playoffs.  They barely beat the Atlanta Hawks in the first round.  Now they must win Game 6 on the road to get it back to home at the TD Garden for Game 7.  Below is my quick take from Tuesday morning previewing Game 5 even though they lost it, from the Times Union:

If the Boston Celtics show up to play every night, there is no better roster in the NBA playoffs. Unfortunately, you never know which version of the Celtics will show up and now there second round playoff series with the Philadelphia 76ers is all even at two games apiece. There is no excuse for allowing James Harden to shoot a wide open three point shot late in Game 3, and then not calling a timeout to set up a final play in the closing seconds made no sense to me. The Celtics are beating themselves, and if don't snap out of it, the season will be over shortly. They already lost game one at home, Boston needs to make sure that doesn't happen Tuesday in game five at the TD Garden.

I really hope the Celtics can force a Game 7 as they are too talented of a team with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to lose in the second round.  First year head coach Joe Mazzulla has done a nice job, but now the team has to step up facing elimination.
