After NC State took down #1 Duke on Saturday, a fan in a wheelchair rushed onto the court.  You definitely don’t see this every day.

NC State forward C.J. Leslie was the hero during the Wolfpack’s 84-76 win over #1 Duke.  Leslie scored a game-high 25 points.  Leslie was also the hero after the game when he saved a fan that was thrown from his wheelchair after he rushed onto the court.

An NC State fan named Will Privette was celebrating on the court when he got tossed from his wheelchair.  Leslie was able to get the crowd to back up to prevent Privette from getting trampled.  Now, that’s truly heroic.

“He pushed everyone back and told everyone, ‘Get back, get back,’ ” Privette USA Today. “Once everyone moved and realized what was going on, he picked me up and I’ve described it as like how you’d hold a baby. Once I realized I wasn’t in trouble any more, I started to scream, like “Wooooo! Let’s go!” C.J. held me for a little bit because we lost my wheelchair in the sea of people. He held me for a couple of minutes. I was screaming and yelling.”

“I patted him on the head and said, ‘Thank you.’ Then he put me in my chair, and the PNC Arena staff escorted me off the court to safety. After the game, I waited around for C.J. to say, ‘Thank you, thank you for helping — saving my life, really.’ It was the dumbest thing I’ve done in college but it was awesome.”

How awesome is that story?  Props to C.J. Leslie for having a great game and for saving Privette from serious injury.  104.5 The Team will broadcast NC State’s game against Florida State on 2/19.  104.5 The Team will also air the Duke-Florida State game on 2/2 at 2pm ET.  College hoops is on 104.5 The Team, ESPN Radio.
