The 2024 MLB Trade Deadline is nearly upon us, and the New York Yankees and Mets are both wheeling and dealing.

As a franchise, the Yankees have had the same mindset for all of 2024: they've gone all-in for a World Series championship. They made some eyebrow-raising moves during the offseason, bringing in outfielders Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo in rapid succession.

The team won 50 of their first 72 games to start to 2024 season, but cooled off around the All-Star break. New York has the talent for a deep postseason run, but a few reinforcements could go a long way in their pursuit a championship.

On the other side of the city, we find the upstart New York Mets. Powered by the song OMG, and the McDonald's character Grimace, the Mets have turned their season around, and the perception of the team among fans have shifted dramatically.

Still, it's fair to say that the Mets may not be a World Series contender in 2024. The team is talented, and the future certainly appears to be bright in Queens. That said, this may not be the year for New York to make a drastic move at the deadline, as they would have to give away some of their top prospects to do so.
