Patsos and Siena carry on in CBI Tournament
The Capital Region has been booming lately in College Basketball. UAlbany has had both their men's and women's team advance to their respective NCAA Tournament. And although UAlbany lost in their tough outing against #1 overall seed Florida, Siena is still continuing on their own season. Siena has been invited to the College Basketball Invitational.
Created in 2007, its purpose is to create a tournament for teams not selected for the NCAA tournament, or the NIT.
After defeating Stony Brook in the opening round, Siena will now face Penn State in the quarterfinals. They will play the winner of Fresno St. and Princeton. The other four teams that have advanced are Texas A&M, Old Dominion, Illinois State, and Radford.
The only other time Siena and Penn State have played, was back in the 2000 NIT where Siena lost 105-103.
Overall, the Saints finished 16-17 under first year coach Jimmy Patsos.
