A week ago the former Troy High School stand out Wide Receiver was suspended for violating team rules and now he is no longer a UAlbany Great Dane. The sophomore has left the University at Albany Football program. Details are few and far between at this time.

In a week where the Great Danes are preparing to host William and Mary this Saturday in their CAA home opener this can't be good news. Holmes was a true play maker last year and an obvious fan favorite. The UAlbany press release is below.

UAlbany Football Announces Departure of Dev Holmes

ALBANY, N.Y. — Sophomore wide receiver Dev Holmes has left the University at Albany football program, the team announced Monday, Sept. 23.

“Dev informed me today that he has decided to leave the program,” Head Coach Greg Gattuso said. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

The program will have no further comment.
