Why Does MLB Resist “Change?”

Over the years, Major League Baseball has been very slow and resistant with making changes to "America's Pastime." This goes for the All-Star Game, instant replay and the new playoff format with a second Wild Card team. Why do you think people in charge of MLB are so resistant to change?
